I started this blog a couple of months after getting married, way back in '07. The husband and I had had a disagreement over christmas tree AND chili accompaniments, and I thought, I don't even know this guy! I need to write about these oddities. When we moved to New York, the blog evolved into more of a chronicle of experiencing New York City with fresh eyes. So much to take in when you are just settling in to that magic place; a wise New Yorker once told me that you are officially a resident on the day when you realize you are not looking up anymore, but down at the sidewalk. You can see on the blog when that started happening to me as my posts all but vanished overnight. I had my head in the sand for a solid couple of years as I literally ate breakfast, lunch, and dinner at work (as many New Yorkers do). Now, as motherhood has arrived, in addition to a new life back in the South and a new found desire for well-roundedness, I find myself looking at the world with those fresh eyes again, and wanting to write about it. I don't know where this leg of the journey will lead, but I hope this time around I can continue looking up for a while. There's lots to see here.
